The Weeknd Unveils Plans for Final Album in Epic Trilogy

January 15, 2024

Canadian artist and musical genius, known as The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye), has recently confirmed his plans to release the concluding album in his captivating trilogy.

This new piece will serve as the culmination of the trilogy that commenced with 'After Hours' in 2020 and continued with 'Dawn FM' in 2022.

In an interview with Variety earlier this week (June 20), he shared, "I'm wrapping up the third part of this epic series, this exciting trilogy. The title will be revealed soon, and it's definitely not what some fans think... what they think is the title is actually the name of one of the songs on the album, but that's not what the actual album is called [some speculated it would be named 'After Life']. So, I'm just going to announce that."

It's worth noting that The Weeknd is currently concluding his international After Hours til Dawn Tour, where he has honed his craft by performing predominantly during daylight hours. This decision stems from a desire to connect more easily with fans: "Performances are mostly during the daytime, so I can see the audience," he shared. "It allows for better eye contact and creates a more intimate atmosphere. Instead of a performance, it feels more like a conversation with them."

Furthermore, each performance is accompanied by new experiments: "Every night I'm changing up the setlist - it's very unlike me, usually everything is quite formulaic. So, I'm adding specific deep cuts and old hits. I rehearse it on the day of the concert, and if the band agrees, we might even throw in a mini-set... I feel very free and in control and am enjoying it immensely."

Earlier this year, The Weeknd released a new music video for the song 'Is There Someone Else?' from the 'Dawn FM' album, marking the one-year anniversary of the release of the hit 2022 album. The video came just a few weeks after The Weeknd's latest collaboration with Swedish House Mafia - 'Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength),' featured in the soundtrack for the recent film "Avatar: The Way Of The Water."

More information about the final album in the trilogy is expected to be revealed soon.
